Each monitor you want to connect needs a dedicated monitor output from the base computer or laptop. Unfortunately most laptops have just one monitor output on them enabling connection of just one external monitor.
Laptops are simply not designed to be able to be connected up to larger monitor arrays and even using a docking station often does not get around this issue.
